Maryland Scientists Build Bacterial Chromosome

Scientists in Maryland yesterday said they had built from scratch an entire microbial chromosome, a loop of synthetic DNA carrying all the instructions that a simple cell needs to live and reproduce.

The feat marks the first time that anyone has made such a large strand of hereditary material from off-the-shelf chemical ingredients. Previous efforts had yielded DNA strands less than one-twentieth the size, and those pieces lacked many of the key biological programs that tell a cell how to stay alive.

On the basis of earlier experiments, the researchers believe the new, full-length loop would spontaneously "boot up" inside a cell, just as a downloaded operating system can awaken a computer -- a potentially historic event that would amount to the creation of the first truly artificial life form.

Team members emphasized that they have not done that yet but expressed confidence that they would do so before the end of the year.

Animal-Human Hybrids Spark Controversy

Scientists have begun blurring the line between human and animal by producing chimeras—a hybrid creature that's part human, part animal.

Chinese scientists at the Shanghai Second Medical University in 2003 successfully fused human cells with rabbit eggs. The embryos were reportedly the first human-animal chimeras successfully created. They were allowed to develop for several days in a laboratory dish before the scientists destroyed the embryos to harvest their stem cells.

Nanotech Is Destroying People's Lives? The Horrors of Morgellons

Be prepared to have your mind blown yet again.  We have absolute psychotic lunatics working in labs all over the world creating God-knows-what, on such microscopic levels that there's no way it won't get out of the lab.  And this disturbing documentation of what's now in our environment should have alarm bells going off all over the place!!  This article exposes the reality of what is being called "Morgellons Disease", though it's not established that it is in fact a disease.  It's looking more and more as it it's nanotech gone wild and it's unclear if it's been released on purpose or whether it's escaped the lab.  The fact of the matter is, it's out there, and it's infecting people, thousands of people, and there's nothing being said about it, or done about it.

There are other stories on this site about the insane things being done with genetic engineering (Food Issues Topic, Mad Science Topic, etc.) and manipulating the stuff of life itself without any oversight whatsoever.  It's just more of this mindless corporate momentum that just steam rolls over every attempt to slow it down to a human level where we can actually take the time to consider the consequences of what's being done and whether or not it's something we should allow to happen.  When you are meddling on this level of life, it will affect very single life form on the planet.  Pretty serious consequences if you ask me.  Something we should not sit by and just let happen don't you think?

A Ten Year Sufferer

The worst possible future is here right now and we need your immediate help.  Nanotechnology is disabling and killing human beings.   This information is not based on idle conjecture but facts proven by laboratory testing performed by Dr. Hildegarde Staninger at Woodshole/MIT Lab, Lambda Labs, and other accredited labs (refer to Research Section). The results of these important tests are being ignored.  The mainstream press for what ever reason has not informed the public by publishing the results of these scientific tests.  This is news all Americans citizens should be aware of.  Your help is desperately needed!

My name is Jan Smith.  I am 58 years old and have been debilitated for the past 10 years with Morgellon’s disease.  Other members of my family have this disease as well.  I have even had the sad experience of having my pet cat die from this disease.  The vet said it was allergies but I knew what the lesions were that covered her face and ears.   I have heard from many people who have lost their pets.  Even worse, many children are ill from this disease.

I have included many photos in this letter.  I have been documenting samples of this disease for the past five years and am well versed in the morphology of how this disease is manifesting and progressing in people.  I have spent countless hours using a microscope to examine the disturbing signs of Morgellon’s.  I have researched the internet extensively on parasites, fungus, nano-technology, patents and other significant related subject matter. Whenever possible, I worked hand-in-hand with researchers to provide samples for analysis and to document symptoms.

Synthetic DNA on the Brink of Yielding New Life Forms

If this story doesn't totally freak you out, I don't know what will.  So many are running around afraid of CO2 emissions, a vital gas in the cycle of life on this planet, while scientists are on the verge letting loose God-knows-what into our environment!  As one environmental ethicist puts it:
"synthetic biology posses a conundrum because of its double -edged ability to WREAK BIOLOGICAL HAVOC and perhaps wean civilization off dirty 20th century technology . . ."
I'm sorry, but the dangers posed to all life on this planet from all the genetic engineering going on, without a single media or government eyeball on the matter, couldn't possibly worth the rist just to "wean us off dirty technology!"  There are plenty of SANE alternatives to that particular problem don't you think?  These lunatics are meddling with the building blocks of life itself for crying out load!  Do you really think these people have any idea what the consequences are of synthetic DNA suddenly getting  into the environment,  our food supply, in US?  We were not designed to deal with synthetic DNA.  Nothing on this planet is designed to deal with it.   This article just highlights the fact that the human race is totally insane!  It makes about as much sense as taking antidepressant drugs that have a major side effect of making you want to commit suicide!  (See this story if you don't believe that one.

I'd also like to point out that what we see in the mainstream news, is only the slightest glimmer of what is really being done.  Just like the aerospace industry, what they have is roughly 30 - 50 years beyond what the general public gets to see.  I shudder to think what these lunatics have cooked up.

It has been 50 years since scientists first created DNA in a test tube, stitching ordinary chemical ingredients together to make life's most extraordinary molecule. Until recently, however, even the most sophisticated laboratories could make only small snippets of DNA -- an extra gene or two to be inserted into corn plants, for example, to help the plants ward off insects or tolerate drought.

Now researchers are poised to cross a dramatic barrier: the creation of life forms driven by completely artificial DNA.

Scientists in Maryland have already built the world's first entirely handcrafted chromosome -- a large looping strand of DNA made from scratch in a laboratory, containing all the instructions a microbe needs to live and reproduce.

In the coming year, they hope to transplant it into a cell, where it is expected to "boot itself up," like software downloaded from the Internet, and cajole the waiting cell to do its bidding. And while the first synthetic chromosome is a plagiarized version of a natural one, others that code for life forms that have never existed before are already under construction.

The cobbling together of life from synthetic DNA, scientists and philosophers agree, will be a watershed event, blurring the line between biological and artificial -- and forcing a rethinking of what it means for a thing to be alive.

"This raises a range of big questions about what nature is and what it could be," said Paul Rabinow, an anthropologist at the University of California at Berkeley who studies science's effects on society. "Evolutionary processes are no longer seen as sacred or inviolable. People in labs are figuring them out so they can improve upon them for different purposes."
